Currently, it can read most pdf, cbr and cbz files, next in line is epub.

Test: click here
(note: It asks for permission, it needs to be able to open your local stored books)

To do:
- use the catalog as a library, complete with tags, different catagories andso on. Read more »

Sneller VDSL2

Remote switch

My old remote switch ( a Canon RS-80N3 ) dead in december after two years of service, so I needed a new shutter release thing. Canon has got two models, the simpel one and the expensive one with interval options. I would like to have to advanced one, but it was a bit too expensive for my taste, but I found an alternative:

The Twin1 ISR (Interval Shutter Release)

Same price as the basic Canon model, but with the interval options of the expensive one.

Today the package arrived and I used my lunch break for some quick testing...I will have to use it tomorrow so it was just in time.

First impression:
- it works

Not only as basic device (which will work without battery) with shutter control and bulb, but also as interval release, complete with exposure control. Time-lapse, here I come

VDSL2 modem data

If you have a VDSL2 line in Belgium and you want to know more about your dsl line data or your max speed, the web interface of the Bbox2 modem (ugly modem) doesn't give all that info...

So I've made a little tool that reads out your modem data:

You can start it with this link its a java webstart, so it can be used on any system with a 1.6 JRE (tested on Windows 7 and Snow Leopard)

Remote desktop console with Windows 7

Why change something that's working?

I've used the Microsoft remote desktop client before and in all versions of Windows, if you needed to connect to the main console you could just specify that with the /console switch.

Not in Windows 7.
It's changed
Why?

Its now the /admin switch...

Too bad that doens't help if you're using a tool like visonapp remote desktop...the connect to console option doens't work anymore with Windows 7 as client system.

My first urbex trip in the Netherlands...this was a hospital for the mental ill, build in 1849 and closed in 2002.

This time no trouble with my clothing. Too bad much of the location has been trashed but still some nice things remained.

The chappel was one of the most eye pleasing rooms there, here is a 360 panorama of that chapel (flash)

Wifi & wifi

A few weeks ago I bought an Apple timecapsule, for easy backup of our Macbooks, but also as a new wifi base station, because the wifi in the worlds most ugly dsl modem is very unstable.

One of the best features is the dual-band capabilities. Most people don't know this, but if you use a non N device (like an iPhone or older laptop) your base station will operate in G mode, which limits your maximum speed to 54 Mbps. Read more »

Chateau du Loup

Last sunday I went on an urbex trip after a little tip. Destination: A small abandoned castle somewhere in Belgium...

After some difficulty to get in, I found myself standing in a grand hallway with one of the most beautiful marble staircases I ever saw, even the glass-in-lead window behind it was in perfect condition...

This castle was build in 1913 and abandoned in 2002. It will be reconverted, and some works have already been done, like installing steel I-Beams on the attic for stability.

Oh and a little pic to show that urbexing can be dangerous for clothes, that was wat was left of my pants after climbing in Guess I'm more flexible than my clothes

A few months ago I got the chance to go below the antwerp city, deep below. More than 30 years ago a lot of tunnels for the premetro were build, but a most of these tunnels and stations were never used...

At the deepest point the line even dives under the Antwerp highway ring at approx. 26 meters below the normal ground level. Read more »
